Hi everyone! I’m sure you might be wondering what that chart is!! Well, it’s for a project about the Butler County Poor Farm Records. We were required to take separate pieces of data from the records and make some kind of chart with them.
For my chart, I chose to use the ages of the men and women who entered Butler County’s Poor Farm in the year 1902. On the left, you can see the amounts of people with certain ages represented. At the bottom, the age ranges are displayed, each ten years apart. The data itself is shown by the blue and red columns, for men and women, respectively, as you can see in the key.
I wanted to show how many men and women fit into each age range, because it gives a deeper look into what age groups were more prominent in Butler County’s Poor Farm. In making this chart, I firstly realized that there were far more men than women in the poor farm. Secondly, I realized that men in the poor farm tended to be over the age of 50, and women tended to be under the age of 50.
I had a lot of difficulty creating this chart and trying to figure out the right data and where to input it to get the chart to look exactly how I wanted it. It was a lot of fun, however, and I would definitely do it again!!
