Hi everyone! I’m here today to share my new collections on Omeka! I made three different collections on my Omeka site; “The Story of Me,” “Art?,” and “Quarantine Days.” The main goal for my Digital History class was to put at least 10 items into a collection entitled “The Story of Me,” and so that’s what I did.
For “The Story of Me,” I added a few pictures from my childhood and some from later years with my friends and family. I also included some pictures and videos of important moments in my life, like a photo the first time I wrecked a car and a short video from my favorite concert of my favorite music group. Basically, even if I’m not in the picture, I picked pictures that have to do with who I am as a person and what shaped me.
For my “Art?” collection, I just added a few pictures of artwork that I have finished over the years. Included in this are works from high school art classes as well as photographs and paintings that I have made in my free time in the past few years. Art is a way of expressing myself and my feelings, so it helps me deal with anything troubling going on in my life.
And finally, the “Quarantine Days” collection. There aren’t too many photos in this category, but I assure you these photos barely scratch the surface of what I have on my phone from the lockdown and subsequent quarantining. I quite literally had a mental breakdown, found love, and potentially caught a not-so-good virus all within a matter of months. Last year was an absolute rollercoaster, that’s for sure.
